CHPM2030: Combined Heat, Power and Metal extraction

Deep geothermal energy

Mineral extraction

Low environmental impact

Energy

Extraction of geothermal energy helps to satisfy Europe’s energy needs. In this aspect, deep geothermal energy will be a key technology.

Raw materials

Mineral extraction from the geothermal fluid will decrease the import dependency of Europe and justify the economics of deep geothermal or EGS systems.

Environment

Geothermal energy production has a minimal effect on the environment. The additional close-circuit metal extraction will generate much less environmental impact than the traditional surface or underground mining.

"CHPM2030 aims to develop a novel and potentially disruptive technology solution that can help satisfy the European needs for energy and strategic metals in a single interlinked process".
